Qazaq Eli

The Qazaq Eli Monument is an architectural and sculptural complex on Independence Square in Astana. The 91-meter white-marble stele refers to 1991, when Kazakhstan became an independent state; at the top is a gilded Samruk bird. At the base are bronze bas-reliefs on key themes of history and statehood. The spacious square links the monument with the National Museum, the Palace of Independence, and the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation.
