Balkadisha Monument

The Balkadisha Monument is a sculptural composition at the entrance to Zerenda from the Kokshetau side. It is dedicated to Balkadisha Ybyraikyzy, a real resident of the Kokshetau region whose image is associated with Akan Sery’s well-known song “Balkadisha.” The monument was unveiled in 2015; the author of the composition is sculptor Yuri Popov. The figure of the young woman has become a local symbol of memory of the steppe’s musical culture and the female image in Kazakh tradition.
