Kabanbay Batyr Mausoleum

The Kabanbay Batyr Mausoleum is a memorial structure at the burial place of Karakerey Kabanbay (Yerasyl Kozhakululy), one of the renowned Kazakh military leaders of the 18th century and an associate of Abylai Khan. The complex is located in the steppe zone of Tselinograd District, near Astana and the village of Kabanbay Batyr. The modern mausoleum was built on the site of an old mazar; its architecture combines traditional forms of steppe necropolises with domed motifs.
