Holy Dormition Cathedral

The Holy Dormition Cathedral is the cathedral church of the Astana Diocese and one of the largest Orthodox complexes in Kazakhstan. It is dedicated to the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos and is located in the residential 6th microdistrict on the right bank of the Yesil River. The complex includes upper and lower churches, a bell tower, a holy-water chapel, and a spiritual and cultural center. The interior is known for its tall carved iconostasis, Palekh-style murals, and revered holy relics.
