Open 24/7
Karaungir Lake is a salt lake in the Burabay District of Akmola Region, about 250 km from Astana and east of the village of Dorogovka. The body of water, covering around 11 km², lies among steppe areas, sandy shores and low wooded hills. In summer, people come here for swimming, picnics and overnight stays in tents; the lakeside infrastructure is basic, so it is worth bringing water, food and everything you need in advance, and taking your rubbish with you.
