Korgalzhyn State Nature Reserve

Korgalzhyn State Nature Reserve is a protected area in the steppe zone of Akmola Region, southwest of Astana. It includes the Tengiz—Korgalzhyn lake system, reed beds, salt flats, and areas of virgin steppe. The territory is part of the UNESCO site “Saryarka — Steppe and Lakes of Northern Kazakhstan” and is important for bird migration. Visitors come here to watch flamingos, pelicans, cranes, swans, and saiga antelopes; visits take place on approved routes with a guide.
